Stay Focused on your Target

The legendary Zig Ziglar says, “If you aim at nothing, you’ll hit it every time.”

The digital landscape we live in provides us with many benefits. Despite this fact there are some drawbacks, chief among them are distractions of all types seeking our attention by any means necessary.

These distractions will get you off track if you’re not attentive. They’ll have you on and off-target so frequently you lose your focus.

As we look to close out this year with a strong finish, you have to be clear on what you’re aiming at.

You must be intentional and purposefully focused on the tasks most essential to your goal. At this point in the year, zero in on one goal. While we do have time left, we are swiftly coming to the close of another year.

Don’t get me wrong, the close of 2021 is not the end of your journey. There is still more to do and accomplish. However, we can never escape this truth. Once time is gone, we cannot get it back. Understanding this principle, you must maximize your time and avoid the distractions that come to disrupt your aim.

If you find yourself off-target, aiming at nothing, leverage the time remaining in 2021 to rest your focus. Remember Mr. Ziglar’s point; you hit what you aim at.

What are you aiming at, my friend?

Push back on the distractions and establish your target with confidence. Give yourself time and space to set your intentions. Allocate actual time (20 or 30 minutes) and give yourself space which is quiet time without any internal (family or friends) or external (social media/TV) distractions. Utilize this time to set and reaffirm your aim.

Responding to the question, What are you aiming at, can be difficult for some because they’ve never clearly defined success for their lives. They’ve never established a target and aimed their collective force of confidence, creativity, and actions at achieving it.

Being aligned to the routines and tasks associated with your job does not equate to you having a target. Don’t utilize your job to disguise your current state. You must be true to yourself. Transparency is the key that unlocks the door to transformation.

Project your aim forward in the direction of your success destination. This is the place you want to be when you close out this year. Getting to your success destination is essential because it will build momentum for your transition into 2022.

As you start this new week, set your target. Aim with intention and self-confidence. If you aim at it, you’ll hit it. Don’t allow distractions to blur your focus or interfere with the actions you must execute to hit your target.

Build Forward,
Ronald
